Data Center Infrastructure Engineer II

Location: Boise, ID, US, 83702-6924

The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.

The Datacenter Infrastructure team is responsible for global compute and data protection infrastructure for the J.R. Simplot Company. Scope includes corporate datacenters in the U.S. and Australia, as well as factories, mines, and plants around the world. The team’s pillars of expertise include virtual infrastructure, physical servers, storage, hypervisors, data protection, ransomware, and disaster recovery.

The Systems Infrastructure Engineer II position is a mid-level technical role. Applicants should be subject matter experts in multiple supported technologies and have broad general technical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement systems infrastructure solutions

• Contribute technical expertise to business and IT projects

• Participate in SME teams to develop global standards and manage backlogs

• Utilize scripting and automation tools to streamline routine tasks and support monitoring and reporting processes

• Work with global L1/L2 support teams, and mentor junior personnel

• Manage code upgrades, patches, and hardware maintenance

• Work with vendors for technical and sales support

• Participate in hardware LCM planning and maintenance renewal

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university or equivalent vocational training

Relevant Experience

3+ years related experience and/or training

• HCI – VMware vSAN, Nutanix

• Hypervisors – VMware

• Servers – Dell, HPE, IBM Power 9

• Storage – NetApp AFF and FAS, Dell PowerProtect Data Domain

• Operating systems – Windows, Linux, IBMi

• Automation tools – Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, Azure DevOps
