Job description
Responsibilities

The Coord, ECMO provides bedside care to all patients receiving mechanical circulatory support, using age-appropriate devices for the assigned patient population. In partnership with the ECMO Manager, the Coord, ECMO provides leadership to the ECMO team, acting as a clinical resource for all extracorporeal devices. The Coord, ECMO is seen as an ECMO clinical leader responsible for all aspects of the ECMO system, including priming, initiation and discontinuation. This role is responsible for taking call, is involved in ECMO hospital patient transfers (within the hospital and between facilities), supports the bedside and physician teams, participates in daily patient rounds and is available to troubleshoot any concerns and answer any clinical questions for the team. Working in collaboration departmental leadership, the Coord, ECMO creates and maintains staff education, supports all simulation events related to ECMO and participates in extracorporeal therapy education, as defined by ECMO and Nursing leadership.

Qualifications
Required
  • With Bachelor degree: Three years as a RN, RRT or Perfusionist with ECMO
  • With Associate degree: Five years as an RN, RRT or Perfusionist with ECMO
  • Without degree: Seven years as an RN, RRT or Perfusionist with ECMO
  • One of: RN or RT
Desired
  • Three years with circulatory support devices.
  • Registered Nurse OR Respiratory Therapist (KY)
