Overview

Combination Building Inspector - On Call - Portage County, OH

SAFEbuilt has the technical expertise to provide Community Development services. Our team values integrity, improvement, service, teamwork, and respect. We are seeking a talented and experienced Combination Building Inspector to join our team of professionals. This position offers opportunities for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of assignments with support from a full complement of resources and exciting projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections during various stages of construction
• Read and examine plans and specifications when required
• Report violations and maintain files/records
• Perform other related duties as required

Skills / Knowledge

• Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology
• Interpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutions
• Ability to positively interact with staff, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clients
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good time management, organization, and attention to detail
• Demonstrated initiative and independent judgment

Education / Certification / Experience

• OH Residential/Limited Commercial (RLC) (Lvl 3) certification with Electrical Safety Inspector specialization required
• Trainee or Interim certification may be considered
• Additional OH Certifications are a plus
• Experience in municipal code inspections preferred
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record required
