Team and Role

The Clinical Excellence Quality (CEQ) Pharmacy Operations team supports Optum’s Care Delivery Organizations by delivering patient-centered, clinically collaborative medication consultations to help people live healthier lives. The team designs and delivers telephonic and digital engagement strategies to close Medicare star measure gaps in care. The service delivery team includes Pharmacists, Registered Nurses, Pharmacy Technicians, and Care Coordinators.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct telephonic medication consultations that meet or exceed production and quality metrics.
  • Complete annual medication reviews of prescription and non-prescription medications with emphasis on patient assessment, safe and effective use, and identification of potential drug interactions.
  • Perform pharmacotherapy assessments of patients’ claims, past medical history, and disease states.
  • Assess adherence barriers and develop plans to maximize medication adherence.
  • Deliver high quality evidence-based therapeutic recommendations to providers and patient-centered medication consultations.
  • Develop post-consultation action items for patients and/or prescribers.
  • Document clinical consultations in internal documentation systems.
  • Participate in staff meetings and interdepartmental work groups; identify areas for improvement and operational efficiencies.
  • Maintain knowledge of chronic disease states and pharmacy practice to serve as a resource on drug utilization in adults and geriatrics.
  • Provide explanations and information on difficult issues; coach and guide others; act as a resource for less experienced colleagues.
  • Handle other duties as assigned.
Schedule and Remote Work

Meet productivity and quality metrics with a flexible schedule to support hours of operation (Monday – Saturday 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM CT). ROTATING Saturday schedule with approximately 6 shifts per calendar year. Remote work available from anywhere in the U.S., with adherence to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.

Qualifications
Required
  • Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of primary residence; willingness to obtain licensure in additional states as required.
  • 3+ years of pharmacy practice experience, including 1+ years of Clinical Pharmacy Practice.
  • 1+ years of experience with Medicare STARs & HEDIS measures (MTM and/or Care for Older Adults medication review).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to a rapidly changing, matrixed environment.
Preferred
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
  • Multi-state licensure (e.g., ID, OR, TN, KY).
  • Post-graduate training (Residency or Fellowship).
  • Board certification by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS).
  • 1+ years call center experience; bilingual in Spanish; strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay and benefits: salary range is $89,900 to $160,600 annually for full-time work, plus a comprehensive benefits package, incentive programs, equity stock purchase and 401k, subject to eligibility. This role complies with applicable wage laws and company policies.
