A local government entity in California is seeking a Child Support Attorney (Levels I-IV) to provide legal services specializing in family law. Recruitment Bonus: $15,000 recruitment bonus for certain positions as described in the recruitment materials.
Appraisal (Weight 100%): will evaluate training, education, experience, interest and fitness for the position. Appraisal can be based on any combination of Investigation, oral examination and/or rating of the application. Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
Applicants must be licensed by the California State Bar; have the ability to travel to locations outside of the regular office to perform necessary legal services; have knowledge of the principals of law, trial procedure, and their application, including California Welfare and Institutions Code, Family Code, Civil Code, Code of Civil Procedure, Probate Code, Evidence Code, and Rules of Court; knowledge of legal research methods; ability to present statements of fact, law, and argument clearly and logically; ability to maintain effective working relationships with others; knowledge of basic computer applications.

The County provides a $15,000 non-pensionable recruitment bonus to eligible employees hired on or after April 22, 2023 in permanent capacity as a Deputy District Attorney or a Child Support Attorney. The bonus is payable in full upon appointment subject to completion of a five-year term of service with the hiring department.

This is a continuous recruitment and may close at any time without notice. A background check may be conducted. Appointees may be fingerprinted for criminal records checks. Post-offer medical and drug screening tests may be required at County expense. The examination will establish an eligible list for immediate appointment(s). Other permanent and temporary appointments may be made as needed. The eligible list remains valid for twelve months unless otherwise specified by the Civil Service Commission.
