Cathedral Safeguarding Officer - Rochester

Location: Rochester | Salary: £28,000 per annum | Vacancy Type: Permanent | Hours: Part time, 21 hours per week (occasional evenings/weekends)

The Role

The Cathedral is seeking a highly motivated and experienced safeguarding professional to work as Cathedral Safeguarding Officer. This role works closely with the Canon Chancellor, the Chapter Safeguarding Lead, the Diocesan Safeguarding Team, and other safeguarding bodies to raise awareness, maintain a culture of safeguarding, and promote a safe environment for children and adults.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Canon Chancellor and Chapter Safeguarding Lead to promote safeguarding awareness throughout the Cathedral community.
  • Work closely with the Diocesan Safeguarding Team and other safeguarding bodies to support safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of safeguarding training and information sessions.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date safeguarding records and ensure relevant reports are completed.
  • Act as a point of contact for safeguarding concerns and ensure appropriate actions are taken.
