Qualifications

Accounts Payable Specialist - Houston, Texas
Overview

As an Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist you will be a key support position in the Operations Accounting department reporting directly to the AP Supervisor. The AP Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions while ensuring invoices comply with internal controls and established policies. This position is located onsite at our Headquarters in Houston, Texas.

Responsibilities
  • Execute on the day-to-day accounts payable operations ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments
  • Code and enter invoices in a paperless environment
  • Support process standardization, automation, and continuous improvement to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy
  • Build positive relationships with internal and external customers
  • Assist AP Lead and collaborate with Operations to resolve issues
  • Assist in the AP month-end general ledger close activities as assigned
  • Prepare journal entries as appropriate
  • Assist with ad-hoc requests and special projects as needed
  • Assist with audits related questions for the AP area as required
  • Respond to client and vendor inquiries
  • Other tasks as assigned
Skills and Experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Ability to work with large amounts of detailed data with a high level of accuracy
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet established deadlines
  • Upstream oil and gas experience required
  • Working knowledge of Oracle EBS, Enterprise Upstream, and OpenInvoice is a plus
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Oil & Gas experience highly preferred
Working Conditions and Travel

Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting, and standing. If visiting operations worksites, personal protective equipment is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.

Travel Requirements

Percent of Travel Required: Less than 5%. Travel may be required for mandatory meetings or training.
