Job description
  • Formulate and articulate the overarching vision for Oman Airports and regional/global aviation strategy, driving innovation and pushing boundaries in line with the latest technologies and industry trends.
  • Lead the development, planning, implementation, and management of comprehensive strategies, programmes, decisions, and activities related to Oman's aviation infrastructure, ensuring alignment with Oman Vision 2040 overarching objectives. This involves forecasting future passenger and cargo demand, identifying emerging trends in air travel, and planning infrastructure developments to meet these evolving needs.
  • Lead Oman Airports executive team and provide the necessary guidance, coaching and leadership while supporting the development of a best-in-class organization with a high-performing culture.
  • Work with Oman Airports’ Board of Directors to deliver on the company’s vision, mission and strategic priorities in line with the country’s agenda and within the set governance framework.
  • Ensure smooth and safe airport operations by overseeing a vast network of interconnected operations, from air traffic control and ground handling to security screening and passenger services.
  • Work closely with airlines, government agencies including the regulator, and other stakeholders to optimize operational efficiency, minimize delays, and maintain the highest standards of safety and security.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships and networks with leading companies, start-ups, investors, institutions, and regulators in the aviation industry globally, fostering collaboration and securing appropriate partners for projects.
  • Provide comprehensive contract management, oversight, and direction to aviation providers in the region, fostering strong partnerships and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Collaborate closely with wider aviation ecosystem sector leaders to provide support and infrastructure for fast-track projects, facilitating seamless integration and operational efficiency.
  • Assume overall responsibility for capital and operational budgets, ensuring prudent financial management and adherence to quality management and control standards within the sector.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and ensure compliance with aviation, health, environmental, and social standards for the region and globally, promoting sustainable practices and responsible stewardship.
  • Ensure the financial well-being of Oman Airports. Manage complex budgets, secure funding for capital projects, and ensure the airports operate profitably.
  • Lead non-aeronautical revenue streams, such as retail concessions, parking fees, and real estate development, to diversify income and enhance the passenger experience.
  • Oversee and evaluate the performance of all organizational divisions and programmes within the aviation sector, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence and financial sustainability.
  • Cultivate a future-oriented, high-performing organizational culture, fostering innovation, collaboration, and professional development among team members.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson to governmental entities, agencies, operators, organizations, and community groups on aviation-related matters, representing the sector's interests with expertise and credibility.
  • Represent the Aviation sector on boards and committees, contributing strategic insights and advocating for Oman Airport’s interests within broader industry discussions.
  • Collaborate closely with other Sector leads and the Oman Airport leadership team to ensure aligned planning and implementation across all sectors, fostering synergy and maximizing collective impact towards the Oman Airport vision.
  • Support with the regular review of the business strategy of Oman Airport in response to changing market and industry conditions (e.g., increased competition in the region and global aviation landscape).
  • Support with preparing timely airport performance updates to the BOD and senior government stakeholders on the delivery against the airport's strategy and ongoing strategic initiatives.
  • Work with executive management to prepare periodic business plans including budget overview and business operations
  • Support with attracting, retaining, and developing senior management layers and key talent within the organization while fostering a strong and inclusive work culture and environment throughout the company
  • Support with all departments to create a succession planning and performance management culture
  • Ensure all activities of the airport comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards and ensure sound corporate governance
  • Identify and manage risks that may impact the airport's operations and reputation, working closely with the risk management team to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • In the case of mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships, support as required in the due diligence processes and negotiations alongside legal, finance, and other relevant teams to ensure a smooth transition
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of master plans, which serve as blueprints for the airport’s physical growth and expansion. These plans encompass a broad range of strategic priorities including new runways and terminals, cargo facilities, parking structures, and ground handling systems of Oman Airports, leveraging cutting-edge design principles and sustainable practices.

Role Requirements:

  • Must be an Omani National
  • Bachelor’s degree in management/ finance/ aviation/engineering with a preference for candidates holding a Master's degree or post graduate professional qualification.
  • Ideally 20 years of post-graduate professional experience in the corporate world, and demonstrable seniority in a leadership role of comparable scale and scope.A track record of successfully leading and managing large-scale infrastructure projects in a c suite or equivalent role and demonstrating leadership in overseeing complex projects from initiation to completion.
  • Experience in financial management fundamentals and in developing and implementing financial strategy and analysis for companies
