Job Title: Chief Commercial Officer (Salalah)

Overview of Port of Salalah :
Strategically located on a key East-West shipping route, the Port of Salalah serves as a vital gateway and transshipment hub for the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and East Africa. With its multi-purpose capabilities, the port handles bulk cargo, containers, general and liquid cargo, cruise and navy ships, and offers value-added services like bunkering, container repairs, warehousing, and ship maintenance.
The terminal boasts a 2.4 km container berth with seven berths and an 18m draft, accommodating the world's largest vessels and handling up to 5 million TEU annually. Recognized globally, Salalah was ranked the second most efficient container port in the world for the second consecutive year in 2023 by the Container Ports Performance Index (CPPI). This milestone reflects the commitment to continuous improvement, teamwork, and operational excellence.
Role Purpose:
As Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), you will drive the commercial strategy, manage sales and marketing efforts, and oversee customer relationships to achieve the terminal’s business goals. Reporting to the CEO/MD, you will also play a vital role in process improvements, standardizing practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies aligned with the terminal’s overall objectives.
- Set commercial goals and budgets to drive sustainable growth and profitability.
- Provide input to the terminal’s business strategy and influence decision-making processes.
Customer Engagement & Value Creation
- Establish and nurture professional relationships with key decision-makers within customer organizations.
- Drive customer value propositions to secure growth and enhance profitability.
- Lead efforts to attract and retain customers while ensuring their needs are met effectively.
Process Excellence
- Implement best practices in sales, marketing, pricing, promotions, and customer service.
- Standardize processes and ensure alignment with global standards.
- Regularly analyze marketing programs and strategies, adjusting them to increase effectiveness.
Business Development
- Identify and oversee local and regional business opportunities.
- Support the development of tariffs, cost analyses, and comparative studies.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive business growth and process improvement.
Team Management
- Lead and mentor the Sales & Client Relationship Manager and the Customer Service Manager and their teams.
- Promote a team-oriented environment, fostering collaboration and high performance.

- Functional Collaboration: Reports indirectly to the Regional CCO to leverage regional and international business opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field; master’s degree in marketing preferred.
- Industry Expertise: Proven experience in marketing and sales within transportation, shipping, or a related sector.
- Leadership: Strong management experience in terminal or supply chain operations with a global B2B sales focus.
- Skills:
- Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead teams and work collaboratively across functions.
- Results-driven with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
