Electrify Video Partners is a dynamic new digital media company that invests in and scales creators with an established YouTube presence. We have invested in various leading channels, including fern and Simplicissimus, which are world‑leading digital outlets for political and social topics with nearly 4 and 2.5 million subscribers each.

About the role

As Art Director, you will shape the visual concept and oversee the execution of our productions, contributing significantly to the ongoing visual development of our channels. Most of our team is based in Germany and the Netherlands, so we prefer German‑speaking applicants with good English residing in the DACH or Benelux region.

Responsibilities
  • Develop the visual concept for our documentaries and video essays.
  • Present and pitch concepts and ideas convincingly to stakeholders in project‑based meetings.
  • Ensure that the visual design supports and enhances the editorial impact of the documentaries.
  • Provide clear direction for editing, 2D motion design, 3D animation, and sound.
  • Oversee the entire post‑production process from the first rough cut to the final audio mix.
  • Give constructive, actionable feedback at every stage of post‑production.
  • Ensure that your concepts are implemented and our quality standards are met.
  • Communicate realistic deadlines and take shared responsibility for timely project delivery.
  • Work closely with the editorial team to guarantee content accuracy in visuals.
  • Monitor current media and design trends, test new visual approaches, and introduce innovative ideas into projects.
  • Solve creative, scheduling, or technical challenges while keeping the bigger picture and timeline in mind.
  • Improve post‑production processes and workflows to sustainably increase efficiency and quality.
Requirements
  • Several years of professional experience in at least two of the following areas: editing, cinematography, directing, 2D animation, 3D animation.
  • A passion for creative work and journalistic content, with a strong eye for detail and a drive for continuous development.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to keep deadlines in check.
  • Clear and professional communicator – both with your team and with external partners.
  • Fluency in German and business‑level English.
Desirable
  • Prior experience in Art Direction, ideally in documentary or digital video production.
  • Familiarity with 2D and 3D animation workflows.
  • Solid knowledge of project management tools such as Monday.com.
