What you will do
This position will work as an integral part of European Engineering Center (EEC), an extension of the Global Controls product organization. The position will be expected to contribute in NPI (New Product Introduction) process for new field device products and solutions (actuators, sensors, controllers, etc.), as well as for defining and implementing improvement and customizations of the existing products. He will contribute to specify and develop, in synergy with Product Managers and other cross-functional engineering teams in US, India and China, a winning portfolio for V&A targeting, particularly, the European market. As an individual contributor, the engineer must possess multiple backgrounds that include a HW and FW design for controllers and other electronic devices, general knowledge of control systems and control methodologies; knowledge of HVAC/BAS systems and other applicable technologies is a plus.
How you will do it
- Leading the technical specification and the development of new products HW/FW.
- HW/FW design and development for next generation products. With experience both in analog and digital design.
- Provide innovative leadership in product development process improvements and refinements, particularly as they apply to electronic HW/FW development.
- Participate in system development activity to ensure our designs meet requirements and compliance standards (CE, UL, etc.).
- Contribute to the evaluation of product requirements and constraints.
- Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of project schedules and budgets.
- Lead one or more projects from design and development through deployment, working closely with Engineering Teams, Product Management, Quality, Procurement and Manufacturing.
- Dealing with mechanical design, CAD design, electronic control boards, document drafting, PLM management and test and validation activities conducted in our internal laboratory.
- Defining product conformance/qualification test plans and criteria, supporting test with timely resolution of issues found.
- Analyzing and solving complex hardware/software issues.
- Execute risk analysis, prepare risk mitigation and contingency plans.
- Generate new ideas, contribute to innovation and to JCI intellectual property.
EHS:
- Follow all Health & Safety and Environmental requirements that are defined on work instructions or communicated in training.
- Follow required emergency prevention and operational controls.
- Report all accidents, occupational illnesses and emergencies.
Quality
- Apply, execute and maintain function related quality issues.
- Comply with Global Design Process.
What we look for
- Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering.
- 5 years of experience in HW/FW electronic design of embedded microprocessor based controls (for applications such as industrial automation, HVAC or equivalent).
- Knowledge about embedded microprocessors architecture (ARM Cortex and similar).
- Products development experience.
- HW Cad/simulation experience (e.g. Mentor Graphics, Altium, Spice).
- Programming skills (C/C++, etc.).
- Experience with electronic test equipment (e.g. multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, datalogger, environmental chambers, etc.).
- Knowledge of the entire product development lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, test and deployment, obsolescence management).
- Knowledge of European EMC standards and regulations.
- Familiarity with project investment estimate, product cost estimate and cost reduction.
- Project management skills and familiarity with change management concept.
- System integration, communication and IoT experience will be considered a plus.
- General knowledge of BAS world and technologies is a plus.
- Ability to write technical specifications and engineering documentation.
- Recognize and respond to expectations in a timely manner and with a sense of urgency required.
- Good communicator and ability to pay attention to details.
- Team player, able to integrate her/his activities in complex, multinational and multicultural project teams.
- International outlook and willing to travel abroad occasionally on business (up to 20% of the time).
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and to manage stress.
- Methodical and structural approach to tasks.
- Flexible, resilient, able to adapt rapidly and successfully to changes.
- Fluent oral and written Italian and English language.
- Good knowledge of MS Office package.
