Qualifications

Job description

The Wealth Planner / Tax & Legal Counsel – Portugal will play a key role in the implementation of Utmost Wealth Solutions product and marketing strategy for Portugal as identified in the group business plans under the direction of the Head of Tax & Legal – Portugal/Brazil in Group Technical Services by providing Tax, Legal and Regulatory Support, Product Literature Development and Project Management.
Group Technical Services is a group function and therefore the role can encompass all Utmost Wealth Solutions products.

Key Responsibilities

• Providein-housetechnicalexpertiseonallPortuguesetax,legal&regulatorymattersrelatingtoUtmostWealthSolutionsnewandexistingproducts.
• ProvidepracticalsolutionstotheUtmostsalesdepartmentinrelationtostructuringnewsalestoensuretheyarecompliantandtaxefficient.
• EnsureUtmostWealthSolutionsPortugueseproductofferingdocumentationandtechnicalmaterialsarecompliantinPortugalatalltimes.
• DevelopextensiveknowledgeofUtmostWealthSolutionsproducts.
• MonitornewPortugueseinsuranceregulationsandtaxlegislationandanalysehowtheyaffectUtmostproducts.
• Develop,reviewandnegotiatelegaldocumentationtosupportbusinessdevelopmentinitiativesrelatingtoUtmostWealthSolutionsproductsthatislegallyrobustandcommerciallyviable.
• Responsibleforthedevelopmentandmaintenanceoftheonlinemulti-jurisdictionaltaxsupportportalandrelatedtaxmaterialsinconjunctionwithspecialistteammembers.
• ManageexternallegalandtaxfirmswhereadviceisrequiredonUtmostWealthSolutionsproductsandotherdepartmentinitiativesincludingnegotiationofengagementsandnegotiationoffees.
• AdviseonPortugueselegalissuesrelatingtoproductlaunches.
• Contributetoanyproductordepartment-relatedtrainingprogrammesforthebusinesstoensurestaffhavetheknowledgeneededtocarryouttheirroles.
• CarryoutotheradditionaldutiesofacomparablenatureasdeterminedbytheHeadofDepartment.

Key Requirements

• QualifiedPortuguesetaxadvisor/solicitor/lawyerorsimilarwithpostqualifiedexperienceofatleast5years
• ExperienceofworkinginaPortugueseLawfirmorTaxfirm(Big4’swouldbeapreference)
• Experienceofworkingwithinalegal/taxtechnicalroleinanInsuranceCompanyorotherFinancialServicescompany
• Experienceofcorporate,commercial,securities/fundsandinsurancelaw.
• Experienceofcontractlawininsurancebusiness/financialservices.
• Experienceofdeliveringcommerciallyviabletax,legal&regulatoryadvice.
• Aprovenabilitytobuildgoodrelationshipsandcontactswithstaff,managersanddirectors.
• Excellentcommunicationskills,bothverbalandwritten,andanabilitytotranslatecomplexlegalissuesandadviceintomoreeasilyunderstandablelanguage.
