Are you a Mixed or Large Animal Vet looking to take the next step in your career? At Wexford Veterinary Hospital, we’re seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon (ideally with around 2+ years in practice) to join our busy, supportive team.

We welcome applicants from either large animal or mixed practice background. If small animal work isn’t part of your experience – that's no problem. We can provide training and support to help you feel confident in the hospital setting.

The Role

This position offers true variety and flexibility, with a balance of both large and small animal work. Depending on your preference, the caseload is varied and with fully funded certificates, diplomas, and PhDs, there is a genuine opportunity to develop your own professional, clinical interests.

Large Animal
  • Farm visits for herd/flock health, fertility, calvings, lambings, and emergencies
  • Building long‑term, trusted relationships with local farming clients
  • Routine preventative work and clinical procedures
Small Animal
  • Consultations and routine care (training available if required)
  • Emergency and routine surgeries
  • In‑patient management within our well‑equipped hospital
On‑Call
  • 1 in 4 rota with protected time off in lieu
  • Fair, team‑based rota supported by experienced colleagues
  • Shifts rotate between 8am‑5pm and 11am‑8pm, with shared weekend cover.
About Us

We’re a modern mixed practice with a varied caseload and excellent facilities, including:

  • Surgical theatres and advanced dental suite
  • In‑house laboratory and rapid diagnostics
  • Digital x‑ray, ultrasound, and endoscopy

Our team includes 8 Vets, 5 Veterinary Nurses, and a strong support staff, all working together to deliver excellent care. We collaborate closely, back each other up in emergencies, and ensure everyone has the chance to grow clinically.

Located in the Sunny South East, Wexford offers a brilliant quality of life: sandy beaches, outdoor activities, a lively town, and great transport links.

We’re also very involved in animal welfare and community work, supporting the local SPCA and cat shelters with charity events and neutering programmes.
