Job description

The Role

The role will involve guiding, leading and mentoring the MyHome.ie development team in building new products and maintaining the current feature set within the MyHome.ie ecosystem. Working closely with and reporting to the Head of Software Engineering, the candidate is responsible for ensuring the smooth and timely delivery of software projects while ensuring what is deployed is performant, stable and developed to a high standard. The candidate would be expected to take a very hands‑on approach and consider themselves as a part development resource, working closely with the Frontend team to ensure a collaborative approach across functions.

Key Responsibilities

Manage

• Leading and managing a team consisting of back‑end developers
• Manage/facilitate the daily stand‑ups, leading fortnightly sprint planning workshops, and removing blockers for team members in a timely fashion
• Working both on your own initiative and within a dynamic team structure
• Communicate effectively with team members, managers, and business users alike

Develop

• Developing code across the full stack to a high standard and leading by example across the team – enforcing coding standards
• Working closely with the Head of Software Engineering to architect new solutions that will support the business needs both now and into the future
• Learning innovative technologies and adapting to changing design frameworks and principles

Deliver

• Delivering software fixes, features and projects to a high standard and in a timely manner
• Splitting out complex projects into deliverable tasks and accurately estimating and sizing projects to facilitate a smooth delivery
• Supporting short release cycles, continuous deployment, and DevOps processes
• Project management – working closely with all key stakeholders to ensure projects are running on time, risks are communicated early, and scope creep is managed effectively.

Skills & Experience

• 5+ years software development experience
• Previous experience leading & managing software development teams
• Strong interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Experience developing C# .NET within a microservices architecture
• Experience with SQL
• Experience delivering software that has been unit and integration tested
• Experience with performance tuning applications
• Experience working in an Agile development environment
• Experience with large scale, high traffic volume websites
• Experience of mentoring staff and conducting code reviews
• Experience using cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
• Elastic search and Redis experience are a plus
