Overview
Staff Nurse role at St. Joseph's Foundation. Permanent posts in Residential Services (full-time, part-time & Locum).
Location
South Limerick area with services in North Cork and South West Limerick.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the general well-being of service users in care
- Provide care of a physical, psychological and social nature for service users
- Recognize and report physical, social or emotional problems and assist in implementing programmes to address them
- Deliver care in a professional manner and in line with HIQA requirements in a residential setting
- Set care for day-to-day needs in compliance with Health Care Act 2007 regulations and related acts
- Foster parental/family involvement and liaise with parents/guardians/family members
- Create and maintain a therapeutic environment aligned with individuals’ strengths and needs
- Incorporate expertise of others to enhance care
- Design, implement and coordinate programmes in education, training and work; liaise with Line Manager/PIC for work opportunities
- Foster integration and provide social/leisure opportunities within the community
- Maintain records and reports (e.g., Drug administration, Daily progress notes, Nursing notes, Psychiatry Review Reports)
- Support other nursing programmes within adult/children's services as required
- Manage purchasing and budgeting of household monies and make local purchases where possible
- Establish and maintain respectful relationships with residents to promote independence
Leadership
- Manage, develop and support staff, including induction, supervision and training in line with Foundation practices
- Lead and develop team in support of Person Centred Plans
- Goal setting and development with support staff
- Liaise with multidisciplinary team and attend meetings as required
- Convene and attend review meetings of individual progress
- Contribute to overall nursing input and ensure adherence to Foundation policies and procedures
- Develop effective communication with residents, families and stakeholders
- Promote dignity at work and respect for residents and staff
- Hold supervision meetings with support staff as directed
- Ensure staff relationships with residents promote independence
General
- Promote positive awareness of learning disability in the community
- Be familiar with HIQA standards and relevant guidelines/policies
- Act as a Key Worker for service users as required
- Drive Foundation transport (mini-bus) with a full clean driving licence and indemnity; evidence required yearly
Requirements
- A nursing qualification and registration with An Bord Altranais (RID qualification desirable)
- Ability to work on own initiative and supervise service users/staff
- Experience in managing behaviour which challenges
Additional Information
Initial hours: 37.5 hours per week. Location: South Limerick. Initial assignment: rostered duty including 7/14 duty as per service rosters and mobility programme. Reports to: CNM1, CNM2, Person In Charge (PIC), Area Manager. Salary and benefits per contract. Confidentiality obligation applies to all client/staff information.
