Job description

As a CPU Architecture Staff Engineer, you will be leading the architectural & micro-architectural specification for a range of cutting‑edge OOO superscalar CPU cores used in next‑generation System‑on‑Chip (SoC) designs, with a strong emphasis on performance and power/area efficiency.

This is a leadership role that demands technical expertise of the workings of OOO superscalar CPUs, coherency in multi‑core systems, and workload performance analysis.

Successful candidates will be expected to collaborate with other architecture teams, design teams and other partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Authoring specifications for the CPU core in sufficient detail for design teams and other stakeholders, and conducting reviews as necessary.
  • Close collaboration with other architects to optimize CPU system performance, including teams working on closely‑coupled accelerator engines, SOC definition teams, and SW teams.
  • Using simulators and other tools to model key workloads in terms of power & performance, and performing “what if” trade‑off analysis on features and design choices.
  • Close collaboration with design teams on implementation & verification, and also include power analysis and process‑related decision making.
  • Researching next‑generation requirements and features with a view to enabling future products.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of extensive experience leading architectural efforts in OOO superscalar CPU designs with a track record of successful delivery; demonstrated ability to define and drive micro‑architecture decisions, optimizing performance, power, and area.
  • Expert‑level understanding of CPU micro‑architectures, memory hierarchy, and coherency in multi‑core systems.
  • Excellent understanding of SoC design principles and the integration of accelerators, CPUs, and memory subsystems.
  • Extensive experience in utilizing advanced functional and performance simulators for architecture exploration, validation, and performance projection, including modeling complex software workloads.

Additional areas of interest:

  • Knowledge of RISC‑V architecture, hardware and software aspects.
  • Experience with closely‑coupled accelerators.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML software frameworks and their mapping onto hardware.
