The primary goal of this role is to ensure an optimal user experience for clients through the maintenance of healthy, performant databases. This is achieved through implementation of continuous database monitoring using Redgate Monitor.

The secondary responsibility involves generating ad-hoc reports and performing data updates in cases where the user interface does not support client data changes.

The tertiary focus includes managing deployments between development, UAT, pre-production, and production environments. Database versioning is handled using Redgate Flyway.

We are a dynamic, growth-oriented organization seeking a proactive and skilled SQL Database Administrator to enhance and maintain our database environments. The role involves using Redgate tools extensively for monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing database systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Monitoring & Maintenance:

  • Continuously monitor and fine-tune database systems for optimal performance.
  • Manage and execute database migrations from test to production environments using Redgate.
  • Maintain robust version control across multiple database environments.

Performance Optimization:

  • Optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexes to ensure high database performance.

SQL Operations:

  • Execute and troubleshoot SQL scripts for data fixes, batch processing, or analytical tasks.
  • Perform manual updates, deletions, or insertions directly into databases when necessary.
  • Generate reports and extract datasets via custom SQL queries.

Backup & Recovery:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain reliable backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Regularly test data recovery procedures to guarantee data integrity and availability.
  • Collaborate with development teams to support internal database needs and ensure best practices.
  • Provide technical database support and expertise, with no direct client-facing responsibilities.
  • Keep current with SQL Server technologies and Redgate toolset advancements.
  • Explore and potentially integrate emerging technologies, including DynamoDB, to enhance our database infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant IT or Database Administration certification or qualification (Higher Certificate, Diploma, Industry Certifications, or equivalent practical experience).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of practical experience as a Database Administrator.

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency with SQL Server and T-SQL.
  • Familiarity with Redgate tools for database management and deployment is desirable but not essential.
  • Interest or prior exposure to DynamoDB or other NoSQL database systems.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
