HSE South West includes all hospital and community healthcare services in the region, including the South / South West Hospital Group and Cork Kerry Community Healthcare.

The South/ South West Hospital Group (S/SWHG) provides acute hospital and maternity services to a population of approximately 1.2 million, with ten acute hospitals operating across the counties of Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Tipperary, and Kilkenny.
The Hospital Group serves and provides a wide range of inpatient, day case, and ambulatory care services. The group has 2,139 inpatient beds and 382 day beds.

The primary academic partner for the SSWHG is University College Cork.
The Group has two major cancer centres in Cork University Hospital and University Hospital Waterford and three trauma centres in Cork University Hospital, University Hospital Waterford, and University Hospital Kerry. It has three model three hospitals in University Hospital Kerry, Mercy University Hospital, and South Tipperary General Hospital and two elective hospitals in the South Infirmary-Victoria University Hospital and Lourdes Orthopaedic Hospital, Kilcreene. It also has two smaller hospitals in Bantry General Hospital and Mallow General Hospital.
A Group Board and Management Team is in place, the Management Team is led by the Group Chief Executive Officer.
Cork University Hospital
Cork University Hospital (CUH) is a model 4 tertiary referral centre and the only Level 1 trauma centre in the Republic of Ireland. It is a designated Major Trauma Centre for adult services and a Trauma Unit for paediatric services, and also plays a key role in the response to major emergencies that entail a medical response. CUH has a broad range of medical and surgical specialties on the campus. As the tertiary referral centre for the HSE Southern area and the supra regional area of Limerick, Kerry, Tipperary, Waterford, and Kilkenny, CUH serves a total population of over 1.2 million. It is Ireland’s largest Paediatric unit currently tri-located with maternity and adult services. CUH currently employs more than 3,500 WTE of multiple professions and is the primary teaching hospital for the Faculty of Health and Science at University College Cork. CUH aims to be valued for its expertise in the provision of quality acute healthcare services and to positively impact the lives of those we encounter.
Purpose of the Post
The Services Manager has direct governance of the Services Department, participates in various committees, and serves as Line Manager for the Managers of key non-clinical shared services, including Portering, Catering, Housekeeping, Security, Switchboard, and Medical Records, as well as for the staff of the Services Department.
