Job summary

A leading medical device manufacturer is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join their Spirometry team. This role involves designing and developing software for spirometry applications, working in an agile environment to ensure high-quality development. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of software engineering experience, with a strong team ethic and proficiency in C#. Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server is advantageous. This position is based in Ireland and offers a permanent contract.

Senior Software Development Engineer

The Senior Software Development Engineer will work in one of our Spirometry application project teams, to help drive continuous roadmap delivery. Spirometry is a common office test used to assess how well your lungs work by measuring how much air you inhale, how much you exhale and how quickly you exhale. Spirometry is used to diagnose asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other conditions that affect breathing.

Team

The Spirometry team consists of hardware, mechanical and software engineers and the Senior Software Development Engineer will assist the team in developing new features for our spirometry applications, driving the product roadmap forward.

Responsibilities
  • Projects
    • Designing and developing some aspects of the software roadmap.
    • Assisting the project team in distilling requirements into clear, actionable work packages.
    • Ensuring project artefacts e.g. documentation is delivered at each release point.
  • People
    • Operating in the project team in a co-operative, respectful manner.
    • Maintaining a positive and motivating outlook.
  • Process
    • Operate in an agile environment, delivering tasks on a sprint-by-sprint basis.
    • Assisting in the planning, scheduling and delivery of software releases.
    • Ensuring that all work and tasks carried out are consistent and compliant with our Quality Management System.
Requirements
  • Have a 3rd level degree, or equivalent, in a Software Engineering or related discipline.
  • Have a strong team ethic.
  • Have a minimum of 4 years relevant software engineering experience, preferably having 3 years C# experience.
  • Be experienced, fully competent in their own area.
  • Complete their own role independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Have the ability to perform the duties specified effectively and efficiently.
  • Have the ability to complete all aspects of a given task timely, and to a high standard.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with those he/she works with both in and ex-house.
  • Have the ability to work with others in a spirit of good will and cooperation.
  • Have a strong sense of urgency and ownership.
Advantageous Skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and DevOps.
  • Experience with SQL Server and SQL Server Express.
  • Experience with WPF.
