Job description

Senior Medical Scientist in the HPV Lab - The Coombe Hospital, Dublin

Senior Medical Scientist required by Cpl Healthcare, in partnership with the HSE, for new opportunities in the National Cervical Screening Lab, based at the Coombe Hospital.

Immediate start; 35 hours/week

Flexible start and finish times (earliest 7:30 am, latest 9:00 am)

Monday – Friday

The ideal candidate should have molecular experience or a background in Cervical screening.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform to the highest professional standards as determined by the NCSL management team and participate in developing and implementing a service that supports the clinical needs of patients and aligns with the hospital's mission and values.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling patient or hospital information.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Work with the Consultant Head of Department, Department Chief Medical Scientist, Lab Manager, and other senior staff to introduce new ideas and methods according to hospital policy.
  • Participate in the registration, custody, and stock management of laboratory reagents and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory record-keeping policies.
  • Perform activities related to receipt, analysis, and reporting of laboratory specimens.
  • Ensure all equipment functions correctly; investigate, report, and repair malfunctions promptly.
  • Cooperate fully with infection control procedures.
