Qualifications

Position Summary

Reporting to the Head of Quality Assurance, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations of the Microbiology Laboratory in line with Nestlé standards and ISO 17025 requirements. The role involves providing technical expertise, maintaining compliance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely microbiological analysis for factory operations.

A day in the life of the role
  • Arrange required resources to ensure microbiology laboratory operations meet quality standards.
  • Handle and resolve routine technical problems and take corrective actions in case of deviations.
  • Monitor routine analyses, ensure timely entry of results, and maintain controls for instruments and methods.
  • Validate and establish new microbiological methods as per Nestlé guidelines.
  • Coordinate with the factory hygienist for pathogen monitoring and communicate results to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure laboratory adherence to SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) guidelines and promote safety culture.
  • Lead and coach a team of QA analysts, ensuring competency development through training and periodic assessments.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by contributing ideas and guiding analysts.
What will make you successful?
  • Education: Graduate in Science with Microbiology as one of the subjects, or a Graduate in Biological Sciences with a Postgraduate qualification in Microbiology
  • Expected experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a microbiological laboratory
    • Experience in a laboratory accredited to ISO 17025:2017 standards will be an added advantage
    • Authorized signatory status for issuing microbiology test results is highly desirable
  • Language skills: Fluency in English
  • Other skills: Able to effectively communicate with all levels of management, ability to delegate, guide and coach others, and effectively work under pressure adhering to strict timelines
