This role requires two days per week in our Kilkenny HQ.

You will play a key role in Fintua's backend modernization—transitioning from PHP to C# to align with our development team's expertise. This journey offers exposure to our platform's core and the chance to shape our flagship Comply product.

We're seeking a mid-level backend developer with 5+ years of experience. This role includes mentorship, training in C#, AWS, and architecture, and a pathway toward a Principal Engineer role. We provide structured mentorship, learning opportunities, and performance bonuses, investing in long-term internal talent.

You will contribute to aligning backend systems with our evolving C# stack while maintaining PHP Laravel systems and supporting our move to a self-service architecture within Comply—enhancing onboarding, scalability, and international growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Support migration from PHP/Laravel to scalable, cloud-native C# services
• Maintain and extend existing PHP Laravel applications
• Design serverless infrastructure and execution environments (experience with serverless models is essential)
• Collaborate on rolling out a self-service portal in Comply
• Promote best practices in coding, testing, and design patterns
• Work cross-functionally with DevOps, frontend, and product teams
• Implement Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) practices
• Champion performance, reliability, and maintainability in backend systems

Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience
• 5+ years in C# and 2+ years with PHP Laravel
• Experience migrating legacy systems to modern stacks
• Comfortable working in AWS environments (Lambda, Fargate, DynamoDB, RDS)
• Familiarity with serverless and cloud-native architecture
• Understanding microservices and event-driven design
• Experience in Agile, collaborative environments
• Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and self-drive
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI tools for code migration
• Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Background in fintech, tax, or compliance
• Understanding multi-tenancy and data security
• Experience with frontend frameworks like React
• Interest in performance testing and high-throughput systems
