A leading accountancy and business consultancy firm in Galway is seeking a Senior Accountant / Accounts Manager. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of clients ensuring high standards of service delivery while leading a team. The role requires a deep understanding of Irish taxation and accounting practices, alongside the ability to identify strategic opportunities for business growth. Senior Accountant / Accounts Manager required with 4 plus years experience for an Accountancy and Business Consultancy company based in Galway.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Management & Technical Delivery
Lead the preparation and review of year-end accounts, management accounts, VAT returns, and corporation and income tax filings.
Maintain excellent relationships with a portfolio of clients through regular contact, advice, and proactive support.
Be the go-to expert for clients with complex technical queries on tax, compliance, or reporting matters.
Provide advisory services such as cash flow planning, profit improvement, and restructuring.
Team Leadership & Development
Manage, support, and develop junior and intermediate accounting staff, including performance reviews and technical training.
Ensure high standards of accuracy and compliance through structured review processes and coaching.
Practice Development & Strategy
Work closely with the Partners to identify growth opportunities, improve internal systems, and deliver strategic projects.
Play a hands-on role in business development, including proposals, onboarding, and new service lines.
Implement and optimise workflows using best-in-class accounting and cloud tools (Surf, Relate, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, etc.).
Requirements:
ACA / ACCA / CPA qualified (or equivalent)
Minimum 4 years’ recent experience in an Irish accountancy practice
Excellent technical knowledge of Irish GAAP, Corporation Tax, Income Tax, and VAT
Exposure to specialist sectors such as construction, hospitality, or medical an advantage.
Demonstrated experience managing a team and a portfolio of clients
Highly proficient in cloud-based and traditional accounting platforms
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and document management systems
