Job Description

This is a remote position.

Preferable locations: Ireland, UK

As the Procurement Expert EU , you will be responsible for sourcing and managing external vendor services critical to the success of clinical trials and logistics operations across Europe. You will lead end-to-end procurement activities including strategy development, vendor selection, contract negotiation, and ongoing performance monitoring all while ensuring compliance and alignment with our organizational goals.

  • Define external business needs with operational teams and prepare data-driven business cases.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the vendor selection process, aligning with project priorities and timelines.
  • Prepare RFPs with country-specific and project-specific requirements; evaluate proposals, conduct cost comparisons, and lead vendor presentations.
  • Coordinate with QA on vendor qualification processes when needed.

Contract Negotiation & Management

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts ensuring alignment with company standards and legal requirements.
  • Drive competitive bidding processes, benchmark vendor pricing, and manage budget negotiations.
  • Oversee the contract execution process, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.

Change Management & Performance Monitoring

  • Manage and finalize change orders for service scope modifications.
  • Monitor contract performance, escalate issues as needed, and maintain contract documentation.
  • Organize project review meetings and manage strategic vendor relationships.

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal SOPs throughout procurement activities.
  • Contribute to the development of sourcing processes, contract templates, and best practice tools.
  • Stay current on industry trends, vendor markets, and regulatory changes impacting clinical trial logistics.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a sourcing representative within operational and study teams.
  • Support financial planning through budget forecasting and tracking.
  • Collaborate closely with internal legal, QA, and finance stakeholders.
Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific, economic, or legal discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharma-related procurement, with at least 3 years in multi-national clinical trial outsourcing.
  • Experience in clinical trial logistics or working with clinical trial products is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with GxP standards and clinical research regulations.
  • Proven experience working with CROs and clinical service vendors.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strategic thinker with a clear understanding of how procurement impacts clinical operations.
  • Strong comparator sourcing experience in the pharmaceutical industry in the EU
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to lead and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
