Purpose of the Job:

The Process Manager will be responsible for ensuring safety compliance, managing process operations, and leading continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring adherence to all health and safety regulations.
  • Reporting hazards and potential risks promptly.
  • Reviewing and complying with SOPs for all tasks.
  • Maintaining GMP standards and housekeeping.
  • Collaborating with operations, engineering, and EHS managers to set departmental goals and schedules.
  • Promoting effective communication across departments.
  • Planning work schedules based on plant demand and staffing.
  • Ensuring compliance with Abbott standards, GMP, and environmental regulations.
  • Fostering employee engagement and good relations.
  • Driving continuous improvement through root cause analysis and problem solving.
  • Acting as deputy for the Operations Manager as needed.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Managing complex projects involving evaporation and spray drying equipment for infant formula manufacturing.
  • Modeling manufacturing processes to enhance understanding and efficiency.
  • Leading and developing technical teams within the value stream.
  • Validating new equipment according to QA procedures.
  • Developing process flow sheets and specifications, considering instrumentation and control.
  • Conducting process tests to monitor variables like temperature, pressure, and viscosity.
  • Troubleshooting process and equipment issues using structured problem-solving.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance of processes and procedures.
  • Managing corrective and preventive actions and investigations.
  • Developing operational plans for project completion.
  • Proactively resolving operational issues to minimize downtime.
  • Managing contractor activities to ensure quality and service standards.

Education & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Process Engineering or similar discipline.
  • At least 10 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience in dairy or food process engineering preferred.
  • Knowledge of spray drying, evaporation, and thermal processing of dairy products advantageous.
  • Experience with powder conveying systems and ATEX-rated environments.
  • Proficiency in automated manufacturing and processing equipment.
  • Strong team leadership and motivation skills.
  • Structured problem-solving abilities.
