Position Summary

As Data Architect you will be responsible for leading the site Data Analytics team and developing and implementing the site data strategy. The data architect has working knowledge of how data is or will be used and implications on people, processes, capabilities, and technologies including analytics and data integrations. Using this knowledge of data and the needs for the digital transformation of processes at the site, the data architect will develop a vision and a roadmap to drive this transformation. This role requires skills such as data modelling and an understanding of cloud architecture principles to determine the best architecture and solutions to meet business needs. The data architect also needs to ensure there are processes in place and being followed to ensure data security, data governance and data standards are followed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the business processes at Lilly Limerick. Use that knowledge and customer-centric approach to develop and implement an architecture and solutions to improve and support the business processes.

  • Develop a data strategy and roadmap working with business partners (including Process Engineers, Operations, Quality, and TS/MS) to identify digital transformation needs that will drive value.

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of data analysts and engineers to drive the implementation of this roadmap.

  • Lead the data analytics team in the delivery of an architecture that continues to evolve and embrace the advantages of new technologies as they become available.

  • Develop and provide expertise in enterprise data domains; this includes data relationships, data quality, understanding of business data needs and the associated technology toolsets and methodologies.

  • Develop understanding how the enterprise data strategies, platforms, and technologies enable business execution. Use this knowledge to appropriately challenge status quo and drive business and Tech at Lilly collaborations.

  • Analyze data from multiple domains; discover trends and associations, synthesize new integration constructs that assist non-expert users to find similar trends and associations.

  • Use cutting edge information technologies to organize and analyze data.

  • Continuously scan the technology environment for new trends and techniques; interface with external consultants and thought leaders as needed.

  • Develop project plans including the determination of project activities and milestones.

  • Manage execution of projects to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope.

  • Provide ongoing communication on projects, issues, and major deliverables to management and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related technical field

  • 7 plus years of experience in architecture design and implementation.

  • 5 plus years of experience in leading data projects and teams to deliver value.

  • Certifications: Azure or AWS certification is desirable.

  • As a Data Architect you should have:

    • Expertise in designing and implementing complex data models.

    • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

    • Understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices.

    • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java).

    • Experience with data integration tools and techniques.

  • Additional Skills:

    • Understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry processes and familiarity with GMP regulations would be an advantage.

    • A high level of intellectual curiosity, external perspective, and innovation interest.

    • Experience in relationship building to influence change using knowledge and relationships.

    • Successful record of high quality, user focused, on-time & budget IT service and project delivery.

    • Experience with formal project management methodologies, agile frameworks (including Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc. ) and working knowledge of associated practices and tools.
