Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent is essential.
  • Must hold an active CORU registration and be proficient in IV Cannulation.
  • A post-graduate qualification in PET-CT is desirable.

Job description

Alliance Medical Ireland currently have an exciting opportunity with an excellent remuneration package available for a PET-CT Clinical Specialist to join our brand new, state-of-the‑art facility in the new Bon Secours Hospital Limerick!

The €213million investment in the 190‑bed facility is one of the largest in healthcare ever made in the region and will ensure patients have rapid access to world‑class diagnostic services, delivered locally and in a fully integrated clinical setting. This will be the first PET‑CT service in the Midwest and aims to deliver a significant enhancement to patient care.

Responsibilities
  • In conjunction with the PET‑CT Clinical and Administrative staff, provide a safe & efficient PET‑CT service, while adhering to all legislative regulations and company policies.
  • Accountable for the quality of the service provided, including customer service & technical aspects.
  • Developing and implementing operational policies, protocols & guidelines.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of clinical, technical and radiographic developments in relation to the PET‑CT department and promote awareness of new developments.
  • Support the Unit Manager in the implementation of initiatives aimed at on‑going service development and improvement.
  • Promote & maintain a safe environment for staff and patients. Assist in the development and implementation of risk management and health and safety strategies in association with the Quality Department.
  • Participate fully with all internal and external audits and Accreditation.
  • Quality Assurance: Investigate & take appropriate action in accordance with Company policy in relation to complaints, accidents and incidents.
  • Ensure that all Company policies & relevant up‑to‑date information is understood by staff and complied with.
  • Ensure all Company policies on infection control, IV policy and health and safety etc. are understood by staff and complied with.
  • Maintain a quality assurance programme in the PET/CT department.
  • Assist the Radiation Protection Officer to ensure that all principles and policies of radiation protection, are adhered to.
  • Be familiar with all legislation and directives regarding the safety standards for the protection of health workers and the general public against the dangers arising from Ionising Radiation.
  • Follow all Radiation Protection practices as determined by the Radiation Protection Committee, Radiation Protection Advisor and Radiation Protection Officer.

  • Active CORU Registration
  • IV Cannulation
  • Post‑Graduate Qualification in PET‑CT (desirable) but not mandatory.
