Nurse Lead for Enhanced Care – Band 6

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is committed to providing inclusive, diverse, and high quality care. As a nurse lead, you will support women requiring enhanced care across our maternity units.

Job overview

As the Lead Nurse, you will use your critical care experience to collaborate with the midwifery team and manage nursing staff within the clinical area.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized care for women in a safe and caring environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the designated midwifary team and wider multidisciplinary team to provide Enhanced Maternity Care (EMC) across the unit/labour ward and ward areas as required.
  • Provide advice, support and skills training to junior nursing staff, actively supporting the midwifery team in the management of level 1 plus care.
  • Play a pivotal role in the development, empowerment, support and succession planning for our EMC service.
Main duties of the job

The post holder requires relevant post‑registration experience and a specialist qualification in Critical Care, including experience of management, training, development and assessment, to lead and support the Enhanced Maternity Care service.
