Abbott Vascular is a leading vascular care business focused on advancing treatment of vascular diseases through innovative medical devices and pharmaceuticals, investing in R&D, and training and education. Our vascular devices include vessel closure, endovascular, and coronary technologies used to treat conditions like heart attack, stroke, and critical limb ischemia.

We are currently seeking Manufacturing Engineers and Quality Engineers to join our modern site in Clonmel.

This is how you will make a difference:

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will support manufacturing operations, focusing on process optimization, yield improvement, quality monitoring, lean manufacturing, and troubleshooting using continuous improvement tools. You will collaborate with operations, quality, R&D, and procurement teams to ensure efficient production.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead technical activities for new or improved products/processes aligned with company goals.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings.
  • Analyze and solve engineering problems, including complex and innovative challenges.
  • Apply engineering principles, theories, and practices effectively.
  • Understand business needs and customer requirements.
  • Stay informed about emerging technological trends.
  • Build internal and external networks to facilitate tasks.
  • Lead projects, set goals, and mentor team members.
  • Interact with cross-functional teams and external clients.
  • Provide scientific and engineering consultation on significant issues.
  • Represent the business unit to customers regarding capabilities.
  • Participate in validation activities, including protocol/report writing and execution.

Experience, Education, and Skills Required - Manufacturing Engineer:

We focus on vascular disease treatment with devices for vessel closure, endovascular, and coronary procedures, addressing conditions like heart attack and stroke.

Purpose Statement:

Provide Process/Quality Engineering support to manufacturing and product development to ensure high-quality products.

Shift Role: 2-cycle shift (8:00-16:30 and 16:30-00:30)

Key Responsibilities - Quality Engineer:

  1. Identify manufacturing defects and root causes, suggest corrective actions.
  2. Assist in developing quality plans, specifications, and risk analyses.
  3. Utilize process monitoring to reduce variation and defects.
  4. Support product/process improvement initiatives.
  5. Use quality tools and participate in validation activities.
  6. Engage in corrective and preventive actions and investigation activities.

Education & Skills - Quality Engineer

  • NFQ level 7 qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, problem-solving, and project leadership.
  • Ability to work within a team, plan, and make decisions within defined procedures.
