Role Summary
The purpose of the HR Generalist role is to the support the implementation of the People strategy and annual people plan to include related HR initiatives and specialist support, and to provide ongoing administrative and specialist support to the HR function at all stages of the employee lifecycle. The HR Generalist will assist in the delivery of an effective HR function in a timely and efficient manner.
The successful candidate will report into the Head of HR and will work as a part of the wider HR team.
Key Responsibilities
The role of HR Generalist is a key Executive Officer (EO) position within the NCH and will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Responsible for all HR administration throughout the employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, employee experience and exiting.
- Maintaining all physical and digital employee records, including personnel files, HR System and Time Management System (TMS), ensuring all records are correct and up to date.
- Lead/support as appropriate the recruitment and selection of employees at all levels of the organisation in line with resource needs
- Lead/support the HR onboarding of new employees.
- First point of contact for employee queries
- Coordinating training requirements for employees and managers.
- Support the implementation of the Performance Review Process
- Lead /support employee engagement and health and wellbeing initiatives, partnering with external providers and coordinating and promoting events.
- Support the implementation of Employee Engagement Surveys
- Assisting with Employee Relations cases where appropriate.
- Providing monthly HR reports & data as requested.
- Lead/support as appropriate the review and updating of staff handbook, HR policies, procedures and related documentation.
- Maintain job descriptions for all positions in consultation with the respective managers and HR team.
- Support the HR team on key projects.
- Perform additional duties at the request of the Head of HR.
- Provide professional guidance and advice for managers
- Administering staff benefits
- Responsible for HR inputs for payroll process and employee payroll queries

The Person
Essential Requirements
The successful candidate must demonstrate evidence of:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a comparable role
- 3rd level HR qualification or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and data regulation protections
- Strong analytical, organisation skills and attention to detail
- Interpersonal effectiveness and relationship building skills
- Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills
- Capable of working on own initiative
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion
- Strong computer skills particularly with Office 365, Excel, Sharepoint, Teams and HR Information Systems.
- A positive approach, and a commitment to upholding the NCH values of Respect, Integrity, Collaboration and Excellence.
Desirable Requirements
The following requirements are desirable:
- Experienced in the implementation of a HR Information System
- CIPD membership
- Experience working in the cultural sector, ideally in an administrative capacity

Salary
The Executive Officer (PPC) salary scale applies (rates effective from 1st March 2025) as follows:
€37,544 - €39,465 - €40,550 - €42,667 - €44,564 - €46,400 - €48,229
€50,019 - €51,848 - €53,670 - €55,604 - €56,900 - €58,748* - €60,610**

Subject to satisfactory performance, increments may be payable in line with current Government Policy.
The successful candidate will be placed at the
first point of the Executive Officer (PPC) scale (€37,544).
