Job summary

A company in the logistics sector is seeking a General Manager to oversee daily operations, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. The successful candidate will have experience in a similar role, excellent communication skills, and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office. A full driving license is required. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Cork, Ireland.

Job description
General Manager Responsibilities:
  • Manage and support the daily running of a busy company premises, stores, yard, and crews.
  • Continuously liaise with crews ensuring all requirements are met, ensuring crews have relevant equipment, materials and paperwork required.
  • Managing the Inventory Control, Monitoring stock levels, placing orders, performing stock counts, and managing loss prevention to ensure sufficient stock while minimizing overstocking and damage.
  • Ensuring the stores/premises remain organised and complies with all health and safety legislation.
  • Ensure all equipment and plant inspections are carried out as required and certifications are received and on file accordingly.
  • Assist and support Fleet and Plant Management.
  • Continuously maintain a clear line of communication.
  • Liaise and support the Operations and Finance managers when required.
  • Ensure that all accidents / incidents are reported immediately and implement any relevant action plans put in place for the future.
  • Support any internal and external audits within the company.
  • Attend meetings with Senior Management.
  • Attend Site Meetings when required.
  • Attend Health & Safety Meetings/ Toolbox Talks.
  • Be flexible and able to work on your own initiative.
  • Carry out any other additional tasks as required by the business.
  • Always ensure that extremely high standards are maintained.
General Manager Specification:
  • Experience in a similar position.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft office.
  • Driven and Motivated.
  • Able to multi-task and be efficient.
  • Highly organised with a strong attention to detail.
  • Full driving licence.
