Job description

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Analyst to join their finance team in the Midlands. The successful candidate will play a key role in financial analysis, variance reporting, and general accounting activities. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to financial decision-making and process improvements. Suited to a Newly Qualified or Finalist Accountant with financial analysis experience in the industry sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts (Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements).
• Support budgeting and forecasting by analysing financial data and providing insights.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance.
• Prepare and post journal entries ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts (bank, tax accounts, intercompany transactions).
• Work with cross-functional teams to enhance financial processes and improve efficiency as part of Finance automation project.
• Record capital expenditure and maintain the fixed asset register.
• Identify and recommend cost reduction and efficiency initiatives.
• Use Microsoft Excel to analyse large datasets, create financial models, and produce reports.
• Assist in developing and maintaining internal financial controls and policies.
• Prepare and file tax returns.

Key Requirements:

• Newly Qualified or Finalist Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA/CPA)
• Proven experience in a finance analyst or similar accounting role.
• Strong experience using Sage 50 or equivalent accounting software.
• Proficiency in posting journal entries and general ledger accounting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in English.
