Job summary

A community childcare organization is seeking a Financial Administrator to manage its financial operations, ensuring compliance with Irish accounting standards and childcare funding requirements. Job Description

To manage and maintain the financial operations of Ardara Community Childcare, ensuring compliance with Irish accounting standards, childcare funding requirements and relevant legislation. This role will support management in budgeting, financial planning, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping and financial records using accounting software (for example – Sage, Xero, QuickBooks).
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, payroll and bank reconciliations.
  • Manage cash flow and prepare financial forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with the Charieties Regulator and Revenue.
  • Assist in preparing budgets and monitoring expenditure against budgeting allocations.
Funding and Compliance
  • Administer and reconcile funding streams (ECCE, NCS, Core Funding, AIM, etc.).
  • Prepare financial documentation for Pobal audit and funding reviews.
Payroll & HR
  • Process staff payroll in compliance with Irish Revenue regulations.
  • Maintain staff payment records.
  • Support management with financial aspects of staff contracts and HR budgets.
Audits & Governance
  • Liaise with external auditors and ensure timely completion of annual audits.
  • Prepare audit schedules and documentation as required.
  • Advise management on financial controls and internal processes.
Qualifications Required
  • Experience in Administration, HR and finance. (Experience or knowledge of childcare funding streams and the non-profit sector would be an advantage.)
  • Knowledge of manual and computerised bookkeeping.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish accounting standards, revenue regulations and payroll systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software.
  • Familiarity with Pobal systems and childcare funding streams is an advantage.
