Job description
Overview

We are excited to announce an opening for a Facilities Project Engineer with our client, a Global - Medical Device organisation in Athlone. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-paced, cutting-edge company that offers a rewarding career with an attractive benefits package.

They operate a major manufacturing facility, producing high‑performance medical and adhesive materials in a Class8 cleanroom environment. The Facilities Project Engineer will be responsible for managing multiple projects at any one time so prior experience would be essential. This is a 12 month contract initially with the potential of extension or being made permanent within the 12 months.

Responsibilities

As a member of the engineering department, you will be responsible for the design specification input, procurement, installation, commissioning, ongoing maintenance and continuous improvements on the facility plant equipment and services required to support the manufacturing facility. This will include:

  • Leads plant engineering and corporate programs including mechanical integrity, energy conservation and refrigerant compliance
  • Implements project plans for new or existing equipment and facilities
  • Determines the root cause failure analysis of equipment failures and develops preventative maintenance procedures
  • Supports the installation and repairs of equipment to ensure continuous safe operation
  • Ensure Facilities related contracts – projects, maintenance, security and cleaning are managed in accordance with procedures and current best practice, to secure resource efficiencies and the maintenance of high-quality service.
  • As directed, manage facilities project works in their entirety, from inception to completion, including the appointment, supervision and control of design and installation contractors and all their associated responsibilities, e.g. design, specifications, materials, handover documents etc.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining up to date plant layout and utility/ service drawings in line with Business and Regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure new machines/equipment are installed and commissioned efficiently in accordance with safety and validation procedures.
  • To provide support in the areas of installation/operation/process qualification of new equipment to the site.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the other departmental personnel to enable achievement of engineering objectives.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a level 8 degree in a technical discipline with 3 or more years experience in a similar role. Alternatively a diploma with 10 years experience in a similar role.
  • Prior experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting experience of the following systems: HVAC, Compressed Air, Water Systems, Power Distribution
  • Established knowledge of cGMP and safety standards applicable to a facility and clean-room/controlled environment and associated manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Ability to share technical expertise with colleagues i.e. able to express information clearly and concisely both verbally and in written format.
