Design EngineerPortlaoise, Co. LaoisSalary: 42,000 – €50,000 DOE

An excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading waste management equipment manufacturer based in Portlaoise. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role offers a mix of product design, process improvement, and hands-on production collaboration.

The Role:

  • Work on continuous improvement of existing products to reduce Non-Value Added (NVA) activities
  • Support the design and development of new products and processes
  • Provide regular updates to the Engineering Manager on project progress
  • Perform FEA and troubleshoot product performance in real-world conditions
  • Generate and maintain 3D models and production drawings using SolidWorks
  • Collaborate with the production team to streamline workflows and reduce waste
  • Contribute to the development of SOPs and SWPs as part of ISO accreditation efforts

The Person:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 23 yearspost-grad experience
  • Strong SolidWorks and FEA experience
  • Background in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage) and BOM creation
  • Problem solver with strong attention to detail and a proactive mindset
  • Effective communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders and clients
