The Complex Assets Senior Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end administration and oversight of a diverse portfolio of complex investment instruments, including but not limited to Private Equity, Hedge Funds, Limited Partnerships (LPs), Real Estate Funds, unlisted equities, and fixed-income securities. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment while adhering to governance frameworks, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

This role reports directly to the Complex Assets Manager and works closely with internal teams, external asset managers, and custodians to ensure seamless execution and reporting of complex asset transactions.

  • Support the complete lifecycle of onboarding and ongoing administration for complex asset investments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day interactions with asset managers, custodians, and related counterparties.
  • Review and analyse offering memoranda, subscription documents, and legal agreements; ensure accurate completion and timely execution by authorized signatories.
  • Validate and process investment transactions including subscriptions, redemptions, capital calls, and distributions in line with internal guidelines and controls.
  • Prepare and execute payments for subscriptions and capital calls in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain an accurate and comprehensive database of complex assets, ensuring all transactions, valuations, and holdings are fully recorded and up to date.
  • Organize and archive all trading and investment documentation in a structured and easily retrievable format.
  • Monitor and track the receipt of capital statements, escalating delays as necessary to ensure timely valuation updates.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to clarify, resolve, and escalate issues as required in a professional and timely manner.
  • Liaise with the reconciliation team to ensure accurate valuation and reporting of complex assets.
  • Proactively identify and escalate operational or investment-related risks to the Complex Assets Manager.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of operational processes, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory and governance standards.
  • Provide support on ad hoc assignments and projects as directed by the Complex Assets Manager.

Distinguishing Features

The role holder will:

  • Have experience with particular focus on Hedge and Private Equity Funds. Exposure to other asset types in the past such as unlisted equities/bonds is desirable;
  • Self-starter and able to learn quickly;
  • Demonstrate proactive approach and positive attitude in all aspects of the role
  • Demonstrate ability to follow set out processes, procedure and provide feedback for any updates required.

Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours

  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in a discipline relevant to Financial Services.
  • Familiarity with alternative investment structures and transaction processes.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues and managers;
  • Extremely organized with strong attention to detail.
  • 1+ years in middle office or transfer agency experience.
  • Strong computer skills, especially MS Excel/MS PowerPoint.
  • Ability to solve issues efficiently and effectively.
