Job summary

A leading company in Dublin is seeking a Cobol Developer for an initial 6-month contract. Cobol Developer

Initially 6 months daily rate contract

Dublin City Center (Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite)

The successful candidate will:

• Be an experienced developer/analyst who can act on own initiative, is a self-starter with a positive outlook and driven to improve skills.
• Have strong knowledge / experience of the following:
• Microfocus COBOL
• Micro Focus Enterprise Edition 6.0
• Visual Studio 2008 & 2010
• SQL Server 2008 R2
• JCL
• C#
• ASP.NET
• Powershell
• Subversion
• TeamCity
• IIS.
• Have strong planning skills and organising of own work and can deliver formal plans and accurate estimates for own work with set targets.
• Be able to work with colleagues and clients to develop and agree requirements and apply various analysis and modelling techniques to the information gathering process, e.g. AGILE, modelling, prototyping, etc.
• Be able to specify the logical information flows, processes, data objects and dialogues for a system that will meet the requirements.
• Have Strong analysis and problem solving (Critical Thinking) skills.
• Have proven experience of designing, constructing, modifying, testing and documenting COBOL.NET changes to deliver a quality product.
• Have an awareness and be able to take into account any limitations of both technical and non-technical features of the target implementation environment.
• Skills to test all work to ensure no problems are encountered after go-live.
• Have an awareness of the need for and means of achieving quality in all tasks undertaken.
• Have a deep understanding of the Life Assurance industry and its products.
• Document all work to the required standard.
• Works well in a team and carries out all required reporting procedures
