Everseen: A leader in vision AI solutions for the world’s leading retailers.

As Chief Architect and reporting to the SVP of Engineering, you will be responsible for driving and defining the architectural direction of Everseen’s cutting edge solutions across our Vision AI platform. This role will lead the design of our scaleable, secure and highly performant hybrid platform. The platform consists of on-prem “edge” servers, in small to large form factors run in our client stores, to the multi-tenant cloud services, and integrates with multiple third party services. Everseen utilizes a modern, containerized edge and cloud stack and our solutions ingest huge amounts of customer data for real-time decision making at the edge, to further analytics and training in the cloud. This role will ensure that our solutions continue to offer a frictionless customer experience and exceptional uptime, while at the same time, will identify and promote platform enhancements the continue our growth.

The role requires a mix of technical proficiency, leadership capabilities, and strategic thinking.

This can be a remote based role but there will be an expectation of occasional travel to meet and collaborate with onsite teams in Belgrade and Timisoara.

What you’ll do

• Responsible for the technical architectural leadership of Everseen’shybrid platform and solutions. This includes the definition and ownership ofourcurrent and future technical architecture, ensuring scalability, high availability, security, and performance.
• Collaborate with the SVP of Engineering, CTO and senior leadership to align technology vision with business goals and build out a documented strategy for Everseen’s architecture.
• Lead the design of modular, API-driven, service-based architectures that supportedge deployments and multi-tenant, multi-cloud services. Ensure that integration with third party applications is supported at all times.
• Work with our ML and Research teams to ensure that all data injestion and computervision processes are integrated to the fullest degree.
• Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, QA, and product teams to ensure architectural consistency, technical due diligence, reliability and serviceability. Ensure customer feedback is considered in your architectural decisions.Provide mentorship to senior developers and managers fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure systems are designed for global scale, fault tolerance, and operational efficiency, with a focus on observability and automation.

Collaborating with

• Collaboration and influence are key for the success of this role. You will be working alongside our experienced teams of full stack engineers, ML Ops Engineers, Research Scientists, DevOps engineers, QA engineers, IT/Security team. product managers and more broadly with our operations (delivery) teams, along with our customers. You will also present to the senior leadership at Everseen, with opportunities to present at the board level.

Profile & Skills

• 15+ years of experience in software architecture and engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior or chief architect role.
• Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems across edge and cloud environments.
• Deep expertise in edge computing platforms, and one or more public cloud platforms (Azure, GCP. AWS).
• API Design: Proficiency in designing effective, secure, scalable, and maintainable APIs for integration of different software systems
• Performance Optimization:The ability to analyze and enhance software performance to meet speed and efficiency requirements.
• Security Principles:Understand security measures from the ground up to protect the system and data, in conjunction with the security team at Everseen.
• Experience with containerized workloads (Docker, Podman) and orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, OpenShift), and event-driven architectures.
• Experience working with DevOps teams on CI/CD, DevSecOps, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Experience with data ingestion, LLMs and Computer Vision tools is beneficial. General AI knowledge is exceptionally valuable.
• Demonstrated technical leadership experience with an ability to influence and bring consensus across teams on differing solutions to technical challenges.
• Excellent communication skills, including a focus on documentation, are required. Ability to build and maintain successful relationships with stakeholders, at the peer, senior leadership, and board level is essential.
• Possession of a continuous improvement mindset with a focus on improvement and automation for scale. Possesses the breadth of experience and thought process to develop system level solutions.
• Experience of working within a changing technical landscape with an ability to cut through ambiguity, and the informed certainty to move from legacy implementations.
• Continuous learning of emerging technologies is key. Innovation and creative problem solving are essential to be successful in this role.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
