Job description
Automation Engineer
  • Location: Ireland
  • Job Type: Contract

We are supporting a renowned Global Biotech company based in County Tipperary, currently seeking an experienced Automation Engineer. With a robust pipeline of projects lined up for 2025, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to the delivery and management of Automation and IT Systems within an innovative and dynamic environment. The position requires close collaboration with Automation and IT teams, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure the successful execution of projects within specified timelines and budgets. This is a long-term contract role, extendable up to two years, with onsite presence required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other Automation Engineers, vendors, and partners to deliver high-quality automation systems.
  • Develop and review Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) deliverables, ensuring adherence to organizational standards, including:
    • Requirements Specifications
    • Requirements Traceability Matrix
    • Functional and Design Specifications
    • Code Reviews
    • Test Specifications/Test Scripts
  • Integrate new automation equipment with existing site systems, such as MES and PI Historian.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet QA-IT and Computer Systems Validation (CSV) requirements.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) to verify compliance with company standards.
  • Manage project schedules and documentation trackers to ensure timely and quality-controlled deliverables.
  • Actively participate in automation and program-related meetings, maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Ensure strict adherence to global policies, procedures, and cGMP requirements.
  • Foster a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Expertise in Siemens and Rockwell PLCs, SCADA, and HMI systems.
  • Familiarity with systems such as Siemens Desigo BAS, Siemens PM Server, OSISoft PI, RT Reports, FTView, and FactoryTalk is advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of Computer System Development Life Cycle (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and job-specific software applications.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or other regulated industries is desirable.
  • Degree in Automation, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland is mandatory.
