A global medical device leader located in Cork is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer. This role involves designing and building automated equipment primarily for the medical device sector. The ideal candidate has a relevant degree, at least 3 years of experience, and skills in PLC and HMI. Qualifications

Job description
Overview

Automation Engineer roles available in Cork and Galway with a global medical device leader. Join a dynamic team driving innovation across multiple sites. The successful candidate will be part of a team that designs and builds automated equipment for the medical device, pharmaceutical and other highly regulated sectors. You will be part of a growing multi-disciplinary team delivering automated equipment solutions from concept through to full implementation and will have responsibility for machine control system software design, development and commissioning. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain varied experience in the design of high-tech engineering applications.

Responsibilities
  • Design and integrate control system software for automated machines including PLCs, Robotics, Motion, HMI, SCADA, Vision
  • Develop, test, commission & support machine control software
  • Design of equipment to CE, electrical, machinery safety and clients’ standards
  • Interpret & develop design & validation documentation required for regulated industries (URS, FDS, FAT, etc)
  • Specification of control system components
  • Collaborate closely within a multi-disciplinary project team throughout an entire project life cycle
Requirements
  • Relevant 3rd level degree with a minimum of 3 years experience in this role or a similar position.
  • PLC & HMI experience desirable, preferably with Allen Bradley or Siemens platforms
  • Knowledge of automated machine design, specification & development
  • Ability to create technical documentation
  • Familiarity with robotics, motion control, machine vision, pneumatics an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills with a proactive and energetic approach
  • Strong organizational skills with a quality minded outlook and a problem-solving attitude
  • Ability to work well in a multifunctional team
  • Driving Licence and ability to travel
