Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently — we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your team. We’re the pride of Ireland. Bord Gáis Energy have been powering the nation’s homes and businesses for 40 years. But now, we’re so much more than just gas and electric. Through our unique combination of household heroes and energy assets, we’re at the heart of the energy transition in Ireland, strengthening the country’s energy security and helping customers get ready for a net zero future.

We have a great opportunity for an Assets Business Development Lead. This is a strategic role focused on identifying and developing future energy infrastructure opportunities in Ireland. The successful candidate will analyse markets, engage with regulators, and drive business development to shape Centrica’s asset strategy. They will apply deep knowledge of the Irish electricity market and energy policy to convert opportunities into actionable commercial and technical plans.

About the role
  • Market & Regulatory Insight: Track sector trends, technologies, and policy changes to inform investment strategy.
  • Opportunity Evaluation: Support commercial assessment of renewable and low‑carbon projects (storage, solar, wind, dispatchable generation).
  • Acquisition & Due Diligence: Lead due diligence and manage acquisition processes; maintain strong developer relationships.
  • Business Development: Identify and progress opportunities across renewables, storage, hydrogen, and grid infrastructure.
  • Strategic & Commercial Support: Assess site viability, grid access, planning, financial models, and project risks.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work with regulators, network operators, and planning bodies to support project delivery and influence policy.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, legal, finance, trading, and procurement teams for integrated project development.
  • Governance & Investment Cases: Prepare business cases and investment papers for senior decision‑makers.
  • Market Intelligence & Representation: Monitor competitors and market dynamics; represent Centrica in industry forums.
Here’s what we’re looking for
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Apply policy frameworks across diverse projects.
  • Operate independently and make impactful decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Balance long‑term strategy with day‑to‑day execution.
Experience & Skills
  • Proven experience in Irish energy infrastructure (grid, generation, storage).
  • Strong understanding of SEM, DS3, capacity market, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Skilled in market modelling, business cases, and investment strategy for development and operational assets.
  • Experience in business development or commercial strategy in the energy sector.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies (storage, hydrogen, CCUS, onshore/offshore wind).
  • Ability to turn market insights into commercial strategies.
  • Strong stakeholder‑management skills (regulators, grid operators, developers).
  • Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Commercially astute with strong value‑driver insight.
  • Proactive, resilient, and committed to continuous development.
