Overview

The Junior Application Analyst, under the general direction of the Application Service Manager, will operate all IT Support Services of health care applications and perform maintenance in accordance with established department policies and procedures. The role will be flexible in response to emergencies, staffing, or scheduling changes. The Junior Application Analyst must also develop plans to prevent problems, regularly evaluating the current state of the application, identifying aspects that could be improved and recommending changes to facilitate those improvements.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide 1st and 2nd level support for approved applications and technology equipment.
  • Enforce strong access control mechanisms, such as role-based access control (RBAC) and multi-factor authentication.
  • Keep all software systems and applications up to date with the latest security patches; ensure that security vulnerabilities are addressed promptly.
  • Deliver high-level customer service in a fast-paced environment with the ability to stay positive under pressure.
  • Produce documented details of all service calls in the ticketing system.
  • Participate in and understand the lifecycle of application deployments, including installation, testing, deployment, support, and upgrades.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the needs and issues of customers, departments and practice groups.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of assigned application sets, become the Subject Matter Expert for end users and troubleshooting, and create and maintain Knowledge Base articles for end-user support issues.
  • Monitor support issues related to the assigned applications.
  • On assigned SME applications, participate with the project team on upgrades and keep communications open so the user community is informed.
  • Troubleshoot application problems, acting as liaison between the customer and the application owner, and with vendors as needed.
  • Recommend and install system updates, patches, and hot fixes.
  • Monitor applications for readiness, availability, and trend analysis.
  • Identify and resolve application inconsistencies and defects.
  • Log application support incidents and prepare appropriate resolution plans.
  • Research application problems and prepare appropriate resolution plans.
  • Prepare application-specific documentation, including converting user requirement specifications to detailed design specifications, writing test plans, and configuration specification documents.
  • Provide on-site and hands-on support for IT users and technology.
Qualifications
  • BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a relevant field and at least three (3) years’ experience, or at least five (5) years of equivalent experience.
  • Good knowledge of infrastructure and understanding of database/application architecture.
  • Basic understanding of SQL and other simple programming concepts.
  • Basic understanding of networks and various integration protocols.
