About The Role

This is a permanent role within the Functional Control Team in Finance. The team supports expanding and increasingly complex business requirements. The successful candidate will report to the Manager, Functional Control in Limerick.

The role will involve completing functional control processes to support global entities, focusing on Europe with some involvement in North America and Asia Pacific. The team is responsible for the accounting and finance oversight of source systems, including processing journals, reconciliations, analysis and other controls. The role includes ensuring bank activities are accurately recorded in the general ledger, owning significant parts of the balance sheet and income statement, and contributing to design and testing of new products and systems in collaboration with London and Chicago teams.

The successful candidate will work with various operations and finance teams to ensure books reflect business activity, adhering to accounting policy requirements, US GAAP and IFRS for relevant entities.

The Key Responsibilities Of The Role Include
  • Complete daily/weekly/monthly accounting, reporting and oversight to support financial accounting and reporting processes;
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations and maintain documentation in line with corporate requirements and policies;
  • Produce month-end analytics and trend data to assist with review and validation of financial results;
  • Understand end-to-end process flow, acting as a link between front/middle/back office and Finance;
  • Investigate issues affecting financial and regulatory reporting, document issues and determine new or improved controls required;
  • Collaborate with the Functional Control Team locally and globally to implement standardized process improvements identified in day-to-day activities;
  • Respond to and resolve queries from the Business, Finance colleagues and Head Office in a timely manner.

  • Part-qualified accountant with relevant experience will also be considered
  • Experienced background in a corporate financial control environment with knowledge of accounting, reporting and financial control requirements
  • Advanced IT skills, notably MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
