Job summary

An international shipping company is seeking an Assistant / Deputy Manager for Non Far-East Ports & Transportation Agreement Management in Hong Kong. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating reports, managing vendor relationships, and forecasting business requirements. Qualified candidates should have a university degree in Shipping or related fields, at least 5 years of relevant experience, and strong analytical skills. Position: Assistant / Deputy Manager, Non Far-East Ports & Transportation Agreement Management

Job Location: Hong Kong Office

Accountabilities:

  1. Compile and generate regular and ad-hoc reports for management review.
  2. Forecast volumes, costs, and spending trends.
  3. Document cost items, identify and rectify cost issues where necessary.
  4. Forecast and plan business requirements prior to vendor contract negotiations. Prepare, plan, and participate in discussions.
  5. Review and administer contracts regularly to ensure fulfillment of financial and operational requirements.
  6. Manage vendor relationships to understand the competitive landscape, including key issues of vendors and stakeholders.
  7. Drive stakeholders to maximize group benefits through optimal use of procured contracts.

Requirements:

  • University graduate in Shipping / Logistics Management, Business Administration, Statistics, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in financial and cost analysis, planning, operation management, and procurement. Candidates with less experience may be considered for Assistant Manager.
  • Basic understanding of terminal operations; experience with network planning in container shipping or terminal operations is preferred.
  • Near-native fluency in Putonghua; proficiency in spoken and written Chinese and English.
  • Strong quantitative aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, and numerically sensitive.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, outgoing, quick learner, and a good team player.
  • Proficient in PC skills and MS Office; strong Excel and presentation skills are essential.
