Job Purpose:
The Global Supplier Management & Sustainability Programs department is helping to build and maintain a sustainable and resilient supplier base across the DHL Group by ensuring that environmental, social, and ethical (ESG) standards applicable by law and in line with DHL Group’s own standards are built into relevant processes and accepted by suppliers to support the DHL Group purpose of “Connecting People, Improving Lives.”
The department coordinates the objectives, monitors progress, and regulates the implementation measures. The role is responsible for developing and supporting the sourcing managers to embed more sustainable procurement practices into the sourcing initiatives as well as undertaking specific supply chain-focused projects.
DHL is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual, with a proven track record of implementing sustainable practices into sourcing processes, to join our global procurement team.
Your key tasks:
- Monitor sustainability trends and market developments, conducting analyses on the effectiveness of measures, including delivering and developing recommendations for action to strengthen supplier sustainability and support our decarbonization journey.
- Use insights to identify opportunities and make recommendations to improve the approach and development of sustainable procurement practices and standards.
- Work with sourcing and purchasing organizations to initiate and embed sustainability practices and standards.
- Help implement agreed standards and policies into relevant category and sourcing strategies.
- Develop knowledge and expertise as a sustainability and responsible sourcing specialist, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of the broader industry, as well as relevant environmental and social considerations.
- Promote good inter-departmental relations and contribute to the establishment of a professional and efficient department reputation.
- Participate in supplier meetings to explain sustainable procurement programs and get buy-in.
- Design and drive initiatives to support our sustainability agenda and undertake ad hoc duties as required.
- Conduct preliminary and follow-up supplier audits to ensure standards are met and necessary evidence/information is gathered.
Your profile:
- Holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, International Management, Supply Chain Management, Sustainability Studies, or equivalent qualification.
- 3+ years’ experience in an international environment and in a similar sustainability and responsible sourcing role.
- Knowledge and understanding of ESG supply chain risks and CSR guidelines.
- Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft 365 and data analytics, with the ability to interpret the data and provide meaningful insights in multiple formats.
- High level of organizational skills with the ability to operate autonomously, prioritize tasks, and manage time.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to direct multiple topics simultaneously.
- Ability to identify and solve problems and provide ideas on process improvement in a simple way.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across a wide range of stakeholders.
- Pragmatic, process, and results-oriented personality with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, virtual environment.
- International mindset and high level of cross-cultural awareness.
- Ability to think from a business perspective and bring those around you on the journey.
- Open to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Understanding of sourcing processes and systems.
