Position Overview: As a Specialty Doctor in Addictions Psychiatry, you will play a pivotal role in delivering specialized care and support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders and addictive behaviors. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with compassion and expertise, helping them on their journey to recovery and improved mental well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations of patients with substance use disorders, including alcohol, drugs, and other addictive behaviors.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to the individual needs and circumstances of each patient, incorporating evidence-based interventions and therapeutic modalities.
  • Provide medication management and pharmacological interventions as appropriate, in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Offer psychoeducation and support to patients and their families, helping them understand addiction, recovery, and relapse prevention strategies.
  • Participate in group therapy sessions, counseling sessions, and other treatment modalities to support patients in their recovery journey.
  • Collaborate with community resources, support groups, and external agencies to facilitate ongoing care and support for patients post-discharge.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree and full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Completion of specialty training in Psychiatry and certification as a Specialist Doctor in Addictions Psychiatry.
  • Demonstrated experience working in the field of addiction psychiatry, with a strong understanding of substance use disorders and addictive behaviors.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to formulate comprehensive treatment plans.
