Turn Organic Waste into Opportunity: Lead as a Supervisor for Biffa Organics!

Location: Walpole

Hours of work: 45 hours per week

Monday to Friday, with approximately 1 in 3 Saturdays paid at time and a half

Start and finish time: 0645, 1615 hrs

A quick look at the role.

The role holder will organise and supervise the daily operation of the Green Waste Composting, Wood Processing and Street Sweeping Treatment areas, ensuring full health, safety and environmental compliance. They will lead a small team, drive continuous improvement in productivity and plant availability, and maintain the quality of all sub-products in line with site permits and established protocols.

Your core responsibilities.
  • Lead a team to ensure safe, efficient day-to-day site operations, maintaining high housekeeping and compliance standards.
  • Monitor workflow, allocate tasks and resources, and ensure production targets and quality standards are consistently achieved.
  • Oversee all material movements on site, resolving bottlenecks and minimising downtime through effective coordination.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, including downtime logs, reports and daily checks, ensuring information is clear and up to date.
  • Drive a strong safety culture by implementing all site policies, delivering toolbox talks and ensuring all team members work to required standards.
  • Support management with planned maintenance scheduling, contractor supervision, and general office duties such as documentation, reporting and KPI updates.
Our essential requirements.
  • Proven experience as a Process Supervisor (ideally 2–5 years) within green waste, wood waste or a similar operational environment.
  • Strong track record of meeting clearly defined KPIs and driving continuous improvement across site operations.
  • Experience implementing new processes, developments and efficient ways of working.
  • Familiarity with weighbridge-controlled operations, including the operation and oversight of weighbridge activities.
  • Confident working outdoors, with experience developing and maintaining accurate data capture and recording systems.
