Role Overview
As a Qualified Level 3 Playworker, you’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional wraparound childcare services. You will lead activities that foster learning, creativity and well‑being, while ensuring the highest standards of care, safety and compliance. You’ll be a role model for children, a motivator for colleagues and a trusted partner to families. Key Responsibilities
- Activity Planning & Delivery
- Create inclusive, engaging and age‑appropriate activities based on SPICE and EYFS frameworks
- Use the PEP framework to promote children’s creativity, resilience and family connections
- Regularly evaluate and adapt activities to support diverse needs and interests
- Leadership & Supervision
- Act as a key person for children, building strong, trusting relationships
- Lead, support and motivate staff to deliver excellent childcare
- Mentor and coach colleagues to support their growth and confidence
- Club Operations
- Oversee daily club routines including risk assessments, safety checks and resources
- Ensure smooth delivery of administrative duties and adherence to policies
- Work collaboratively with families, schools and community partners
- Professional Development & Team Culture
- Participate in training and development programmes to grow your skills
- Support the onboarding and mentoring of new staff
- Represent The Gap Club at community and school events
- Compliance & Safeguarding
- Uphold all safeguarding, health and safety and food hygiene regulations
- Promote healthy eating and ensure safe food handling
- Maintain confidentiality and act professionally in all situations
Skills & Experience
- Level 3 qualification in childcare, education or equivalent
- Experience working in early years or wraparound care settings
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding, EYFS and regulatory standards
- Ability to create inclusive, play‑rich environments for diverse learners
Desirable
- Experience supporting children with additional needs or behavioural challenges
- Familiarity with online learning journals
- Knowledge of Every Child Matters and Ofsted welfare requirements
- First aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Flexible to travel between locations
- Experience with admin, reporting or customer service
