About the position:
  • As our newly appointed Piping Engineer you will be responsible for the design and engineering of valve skids, including the mechanical design and equipment datasheets for the piping items. The valve skids will contain piping for fuel gas, air, oil and steam, complete with instrumentation, electrical control panels and junction boxes for use with Zeeco’s Burners, Flares, Thermal Oxidizers, Vapour and rental equipment.
Key responsibilities:
  • Develop and optimize piping system designs for various valve skids for the combustion and environmental products of Zeeco.
  • Create the Piping Data Sheet (PDS) for all valves, filters and other mechanical piping related items.
  • Perform pipe stress analysis (if required), support calculations, and other relevant engineering analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., EN, PED, ASME, API, ASTM) and project specifications.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices, codes, and standards.
  • Prepare detailed design packages, including scope of work, assembly/erection procedures, material lists, and input to drafting for piping scope on the site.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary document reviews, design reviews, and 3D model reviews.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., process, instrumentation, mechanical).
  • Provide technical support.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to piping systems.
  • Provide technical support during the proposal stage and assist with estimating the cost of the piping scope for sales proposal.
  • Preparation of RFQ for site pipe scope and outside fabrication of valve skids.
  • Review contractor deliverables to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
Knowledge, skills and experience required:
  • Degree in mechanical engineering or HND qualification in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in piping engineering, ideally within the oil and gas sector.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, API 570, API 579, PED, etc.).
  • Pipe stress analysis knowledge (e.g. Caesar II) is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Competent IT skills with Microsoft Office 365 products.
Additional requirements:
  • Must have a full UK valid driving license.
  • Must be willing to travel worldwide (by Air, boat, car, helicopter, etc. as required based on business needs).
  • Must live within commutable distance (1 hr max) from our Stamford site, LE15 7QT.
