Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Managing Director to lead Borderless Payroll's growth and operations. The role involves transitioning the company from startup to scale-up, establishing a stronger presence in the UK and internationally. The ideal candidate will have a background in managing companies within payroll, recruitment, or financial services sectors.

The Managing Director will be fully responsible for the company's performance, leading with a strategic mindset, focusing on operational efficiency and expansion. You will report directly to the board and oversee senior management across departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy Development: Shape and execute the company's long-term strategy, focusing on UK growth and international expansion. Provide leadership across all departments, fostering collaboration and accountability. Ensure operational alignment with business goals, working closely with the board.
  • Operational Oversight & Growth: Oversee operations across all locations, ensuring quality and seamless service delivery. Develop strategies for entering new markets and sectors, increasing revenue, and conducting quarterly performance reviews. Drive business development in collaboration with marketing and sales teams.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with UK employment law, financial regulations, and company policies. Oversee communication between legal teams and the central legal department to manage risk and uphold high standards of compliance.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor senior management, set clear goals, and build a strong team culture emphasizing work ethic, collaboration, and regulatory adherence. Conduct performance reviews to ensure talent aligns with company objectives.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders. Represent the company in engagements with investors, regulatory bodies, and key partners.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven senior leadership experience in payroll, recruitment, HR, or financial services sectors.
  • Strong understanding of payroll management.
  • Basic knowledge of UK employment law, with legal teams handling jurisdiction-specific compliance.
  • Track record of business growth, revenue achievement, and international expansion.
  • Exceptional leadership, mentorship, and performance management skills.
  • Financial literacy with experience managing budgets and forecasts.
